The format of this is, if y is year, m is month and d is day, v is version and r is revision, yyyy-mm-dd|v.r. A version is a significant change in content, theme or meaning. A revision is a new link, a correction or a minor update of some kind.

The current Footnotes template is based on a varient of the Generator style from the open source journal hosting service LiveJournal. I think it's an improvement on what came before and the journal-esque style lends itself to the loose structure of this website.
