Reasons to choose NOW Broadband

  • No contract - Standard and fibre broadband packages are all available without a contract. You'll need to pay a set up fee, but can cancel at any time. It's great for students or anyone with a short tenancy agreement.
  • Cheap TV bundles - NOW Broadband offers a range of TV packages including Sky Sports and Sky Cinema. You'll make a saving if you buy them in a bundle with NOW Broadband.
  • Fibre packages available - NOW Broadband has fibre packages with average speeds of 36Mb and 63Mb.
  • Truly unlimited broadband - All the broadband deals are unlimited, so you can download as much data per month as you like.
  • Free NOW Broadband Hub Two - Fast wireless router included free for all users. Get a cheap Smart TV Stick as part of a TV bundle, too.
  • Smartphone and tablet support - You can add up to four phones or tablets for your TV plan, and watch on two simultaneously.
  • Easy switching from other providers - If you're currently with BT, Plusnet, EE or TalkTalk, the NOW team will handle the whole switchover process for you.

Possible downsides

  • Online tech support - NOW Broadband is predominantly an online service, so your options for customer support are more limited than other providers.
  • Connection fees apply - A one-off setup fee applies to new customers, and is higher on the no-contract option.
  • There may be cheaper options available - While the flexibility of no contracts is a big deal, it does come at a price. Both broadband and TV services from NOW Broadband are a little more expensive than you might pay if you're willing to enter into a contract with another provider.

Features at a glance

  • Average download speeds of 10Mb on standard broadband, 36Mb or 63Mb on fibre broadband

  • 12 month contract, 1 month contract available

  • Truly unlimited on all packages

  • £9.99 delivery fee for all deals, £15 activation on a 12 month contract or £60 for 1 month rolling contracts

One of the worst decision I made to choose NOW Broadband.
I am a Key Worker for IT company and they made my days worst. very slow speed, poor customer service, now resolution till now. Don't go with their cheap pricing deals.

I have NOW TV wifi installed. Which necessitates a landline. They said they would send an engineer, but hey never did and when I called, I was told they had already hooked it up. Not! They then sent out a BT engineer a week later and got it working.

I got my statement and there were about 30 calls made to Angola. The date of the calls happened between the time of the first installation date (when the line wasn't working) and the second installation date (when the line was sorted correctly).

We obviously wanted the call charges taken off and NOW TV escalated to their manager and came back w an offer to take £10 off the bill! Why in the world should I pay for calls that were made by someone else when the line was not functioning.

All of this took literally hours of calling NOW TV, waiting for one person after another and that's their resolution?

Northampton NOW Broadband Edit Review
I can't fault NOW TV Broadband. After reading some of the other reviews and getting my date delayed by 1 week with an OpenReach issue, it turns out that it actually was an OpenReach issue. I spoe to NOW a couple of times, very quick to answer once you go through the Option 3, Option 1 answer message. Very polite staff, apologetic and contacted me to say they had heard from OpenReach and confirmed the switch on date. OpenReach arrived well in time, connected to the OpenReach socket and didn't have much of a signal, so the engineer put a new socket in within 2 minutes and I instantly got great coverage in all rooms with no lag whatsoever. My son started downloading his PlayStation 4 updates and games, we went out for an hour and came back and all was downloaded. Can't fault them to be honest, right from the start they've been consistently extremely polite and very helpful. I've got the 38Mb/s fibre broadband with landline and for £23 per month on a 12 month contract, they are cheaper by far than any other. 5 stars all round from me.

Switched online to NowBroadband from Virgin, then Virgin called us with a better deal. Cancelled the contract with NowBoradband within the cooling period.
However, they kept taking direct debits for 4 months and after spending hours with their useless customer service team on the phone, will still now refund our monies. Haven't even been connected to their service. In my opinion: thieves - stay away.
I recommend switching between EE and Virgin every 2 years to keep on good deals. Both have better service and speeds.

Now tv have consistently failed to collect direct debit payments. After 6 months of this I eventually changed bank accounts. Today they have collected their payment. For the last few months the Internet stops working for upto an hour around midnight. Ive been fobbed off with 'System updates' 'denial' 'manager to call you back and 'You could always go elsewhere'. Its frustrating, the website is as friendly as a hangry guard dog, the line check useless! It needs working internet to test line issues, so if there's no Internet connection, it cant test anything! getting in touch with them takes the tenacity of a bounty hunter & the realisation that you need more magic than Disney to get a phone number out of that website & instead have to Google 'Speak to human NowTv'. Once you get through, the staff are good its the crazy Nowtv frame in which they work that is the issue. Nowtv don't do good will, apology or rectify mistakes permanently. The same issues happen each month. Tonight Internet went off at 23.54. It finally came back on at 00.44. Tomo I will battle to contact them again, they will in turn show me these actions are the definition of insanity. Time to change companies.. Id recommend teasing that hangry guard dog with a big steak a better idea than choosing them as your Internet provider, dont do it!!

Dumfries NOW Broadband Edit Review
We're on the basic 'brilliant broadband' package, having just moved into our first real apartment after uni. My partner is a key worker and I run a small business from home (due to the pandemic). I knew going in that the speed was less than average, but for our needs, would be adequate. And it would have been adequate, if we were getting the 'guaranteed' speeds. The package promises 11mb/s with a minimum of 4mb/s. Instead, we consistently get 0.7 mb/s. Thank god for unlimited mobile data, my hotspot is infinitely more effective than their broadband. An engineer was sent out to fix the problem to no avail, and trying to contact customer support is a nightmare - like they deliberately go out of their way to prevent you calling. We've been with NOW TV for less than 2 months and are already switching. Save yourself the hassle and go with literally anyone else.

No idea how this lot make any money. They've installed two lines for us at separate properties, including a brand new copper pair at the second, entirely free of charge. Broadband is reasonably fast and cheap, and on the new copper pair download speed, latency and packet loss are all good. Customer support is UK-based and pretty helpful.

London NOW Broadband Edit Review
After two years of a decent service, my internet speeds began to deteriorate from around mid-2020. By autumn 2020 it's unbearably slow, so I call NOWTV to complain. And what do they do: blame me for 'too many devices connected'. I have had exactly the same number of devices connected to my router the whole two years with no problems at all, and three-quarters of devices on my network are passive switches and sensors. Time to find a new provider; the £2-3 extra cost elsewhere will absolutely be worth it.
Southeast of England NOW Broadband Edit Review
It took me 2 months and I am still in the midst of a long process getting back my refund with them. After purchase, the box cam very quickly but there is no internet connection on the day it suppose to go live. Waited for 5 days, customer service is very poor with a lot lapses in communication. Get different instructions every single day and none of them works out as promised. Cancelled on day 5, and thought that was it but no. a month later and our refund is still not with us, called several times again with different instructions, message and timeline. Asked us to wait another month and we will get a full refund. Mid October, sent an email to charge us for early termination fee, which is more than the broad band we subscribe to. So without using their data once, i was charge the first month and now issued another letter for an early termination fee when we cancelled within the cooling off period. Called again several times, again different messages. Reassured us that is an autogenerated email and don't worry about it. Refund will be done in November. November, not surprise we got charged AGAIN. We are fuming by now and the customer services are just completely unreliable. Called again this morning and hope to get all the money refund in next few days. But this again, might be one of many promises that they can't keep. I just want to cut this relationship with nowtv asap. Wasted a lot of our time and causing significant inconvenience. Took me 2 months to decide to put it here, hope to save you from your time and unnecessary stress.

Christmas Broadband and TV

Missed the deadline for broadband or TV installation? You can still upgrade for Xmas!

Posted by Andy Betts on in FeaturesNOW BroadbandThreeVodafone4GEEO2

Were you planning to upgrade your broadband or TV in time for the holidays? It's now the middle of December, so it's probably too late, right? Oh no it isn't!

We can still save your Christmas with faster broadband and more TV than you could ever possibly watch. Here's what you can do.

Broadband

If you aren't sure your current broadband will hold up under the strain of endless Zoom chats, Netflix bingeing and PS5 gaming, you still have options.

Although it is too late to get a new fibre deal connected in time for Christmas, mobile broadband can still give a decent internet boost.

There are 4G home broadband plans that offer you unlimited data at speeds on a par with a basic fibre deal. And if you're lucky enough to live in a 5G area, you can switch to something that is potentially a whole lot faster than the broadband you've currently got.

What makes it better is that you don't even need to make the switch permanent, since providers like Three and Vodafone let you sign up on 30-day plans. So if you just want to add a bit more bandwidth alongside your existing service for a few weeks, or are visiting family and need to take a decent internet connection with you, then this could work a treat.

Among the best deals available:

  • Three have unlimited 4G on deals up to two years long. You can get a 30-day plan for £30, plus £49 for a wireless hub (which you'll be able to continue using in future, too). They also do 5G in select areas, with unlimited data and speeds up to an impressive 200Mb. Prices start at £29 a month.
  • Vodafone have a range of mobile broadband plans, including some with the very highly rated GigaCube wireless router, for both 4G and 5G. You can pick up both on 30-day deals with unlimited 5G data, or up to 300GB on 4G.

EE and O2 also offer mobile broadband, albeit with lower usage allowances or on longer deals. And don't forget that your phone also offers a tethering feature, where you can make it function as a wireless router. Just be careful that you've got a big enough data allowance, as you can burn through it pretty quickly and don't want to be hit with any excess charges.

To unwrap the best festive offers, check out the best mobile broadband deals available today.

TV

Parties might be off the agenda this Christmas, so we'll all be relying on boxsets, movies and Premier League football to keep ourselves entertained.

You can access Sky TV without a dish, installation or commitment through NOW TV. This streaming service lets you choose which bundle of channels you want through a range of TV Passes. Among the best offers are:

  • Entertainment Pass with NOW TV Boost gives you all the Sky entertainment channels including Sky One and Sky Atlantic, while the Boost add-on lets you watch in full HD on up to three TVs at the same time.
  • Cinema Pass with NOW TV Boost gives you over a thousand movies to watch on demand. You can also get Entertainment and Cinema in a single bundle.
  • Sky Sports Day Pass with Mobile Month Pass lets you watch Sky Sports for 24 hours for a one-off fee of £9.98. It's ideal if you want to enjoy specific football matches.
  • Sky Sports Month Pass with Boost gives you the full Sky Sports experience for a full month.
  • Kids Pass is the perfect way to keep the kids quiet, with ad-free shows. This no longer includes the Disney channels, though, which have switched over to Disney+.

All the monthly deals auto-renew, so make sure you cancel if you only want them for a month. You can cancel early so that you don't forget, and you'll still be able to watch until your month ends.

Better yet, the Entertainment and Cinema Passes come with a seven day free trial. If you haven't signed up before (or if you've got a different email address and payment card you can use), and you're feeling particularly sneaky, you can time your signup so that you get your free week over Christmas - and then cancel before you pay anything.

In fact, you can get a few nice Christmas treats by making good use of free trials on a few other streaming services. Amazon Prime offers 30 days, and Apple TV and BritBox both give you a free week.

Sadly, Netflix and Disney+ no longer do free trials. But you can spend around £15 in total for a month of the two, more than enough time to binge through the latest series' of The Crown and The Mandalorian while troughing the last of the Quality Street.

And if you're ready to upgrade your broadband in 2021, use our postcode checker to find the best Christmas and New Year broadband deals in your area today.

Christmas Broadband

Upgrade your broadband and TV in time for Christmas

Posted by Andy Betts on in FeaturesNewsNOW BroadbandTalkTalkPlusnetVirgin MediaSkyBT

Christmas is going to be a bit different this year.

Even with the hope of relaxed restrictions, it's likely that for many of us, large family gatherings will be replaced by virtual get-togethers, and nights out at pubs and parties will be swapped for nights in with a boxset.

And what does this mean? Our internet connections are going to be more important than ever.

So why not treat yourself to an early Christmas present by upgrading to a fantastic new broadband deal? If your current contract is coming to an end - or maybe it ran out a while back and you haven't got round to sorting it yet - now is the perfect time to start shopping.

There's loads of festive offers on right now, and if you act quickly there's still time to get connected before the holiday season kicks off.

You can even sign up to a premium TV service, so you can catch the latest movies, the hottest new shows, and enjoy the Premier League's hectic Christmas schedule.

  • Sign up to Virgin Media by 9th December for guaranteed installation by Christmas. You can get both broadband and TV, and activation is free - saving you £35!
  • You can still get Sky TV bundles up and running in time for Christmas.
  • For other TV and broadband bundles, check out the latest deals from BT and TalkTalk - TalkTalk packages still come with the promise of no mid-contract price rises.
  • Plusnet have seasonal offers available until 16th December.
  • You can get NOW Broadband with a range of TV Passes, covering your choice of entertainment, movies and sports.

When choosing a new broadband deal, always make sure you pick the right speed for your household. Put simply, the more people in it, the faster you need. So while one person making a video call or watching Netflix can get away with a relatively low speed, a few people all doing the same together will need much faster.

And keep in mind any large downloads you need to make. For example, games for the Playstation 5 or new Xbox consoles typically start at around 50GB, and can be double that. To make things a little easier, schedule these downloads to happen overnight, so they're ready and waiting the following morning.

You'll have to hurry if you want to get your broadband set up in time for Christmas. Use our postcode checker to find the best broadband bargains available where you live right now.

NOW Broadband Buyers Guide - Is NOW Broadband right for you?

Can I get NOW Broadband?

NOW Broadband runs on Sky's own broadband network, which has very wide availability across the UK.

Sky's network region covers major cities, towns, and rural areas, and it's mostly only remote regions that aren't supported. In all, standard broadband is available to more than 90% of UK homes, and fibre to approaching 95%. You can use our postcode checker to find out if NOW Broadband is available where you are.

Even if you aren't within the network area you can still get NOW TV. You only need a fast broadband connection (from any provider) to use one of the NOW TV Passes.

What packages are available?

NOW Broadband is owned by Sky, and offers a similar range of standard and fibre broadband packages. You can also add calls and TV services to your deal.

The three main packages are:

  • Brilliant Broadband - a standard broadband service with average speeds of 11Mb
  • Fab Fibre - the entry-level fibre offering, with average speeds of 36Mb
  • Super Fibre - the fastest fibre package, delivering average speeds of 63Mb

The standout feature of all these deals is that you can get them on either a 12-month contract, or on a 30-day rolling deal with no long-term obligations. The monthly price is the same whichever length you choose, although you do have to pay a connection fee of £60 if you go for the shorter option.

If you choose the 30-day deal you're free to cancel at any time. Just give notice before your next payment is due. If you choose the 12-month deal - known as the Saver Plan - you will be committed to remaining on your plan for the full year (or pay a termination fee should you want to leave early).

The packages are all unlimited, meaning you can download as much as you like each month without any restrictions. Line rental is included, and there's no option to buy without a phone line.

You can add a range of call packages, including deals that give you weekend or Anytime calls. There's also options to take broadband and TV as part of a bundle, or you can sign up for your optional TV services separately.

What TV deals are available through NOW TV?

Now TV is a streaming service that offers a near complete Sky TV package without contract or satellite dish.

As a full streaming service you need fast broadband to get the most out of Now TV. You can get this as part of a NOW Broadband bundle, add it separately after you've signed up to NOW Broadband, or just sign up for it even if you use another provider.

To watch it you get a NOW TV stick or box to plug into your television, which you might get for free as part of a broadband bundle. They let you pause and rewind live TV shows, but not record them. The devices do support apps, which you can use for on demand viewing including on Netflix. You need to use your normal TV tuner to watch the Freeview channels.

Most importantly, NOW TV does not come with a contract. You pay for one month at a time, and can cancel whenever you want. It also offers a free 14 day trial.

There are five TV passes for Now TV, each offering a different set of channels:

  • Entertainment: 11 premium entertainment channels including Sky One and Fox. It's also the only way to get Sky Atlantic without a dish.
  • Sky Cinema: the full set of Sky Cinema channels along with 1000 movies on demand.
  • Kids: six extra channels and thousands of episodes of TV on demand.
  • Sky Sports: all the Sky Sports channels. You can sign up for day, week, month or mobile-only passes. This is ideal if only want to watch specific events.
  • Hayu: a channel dedicated to US reality TV shows.

NOW TV is the best way to get the full set of Sky channels without a contract. It is more expensive than going with Sky, but you only pay for what you want when you want it. In particular, this means you can get the Sky Sports channels without signing up to an additional Entertainment bundle, which you have to do if you go with Sky. It also means you can cancel to save money when the football season ends, or when your favourite TV series finishes.

Which package should I choose?

With the similarities between all the packages, the main choice is what speed you need.

The Brilliant Broadband package is likely to be good enough for smaller households, or those with more modest requirements. It'll be fine for one user watching Netflix or making large downloads, but may be too slow for several users doing the same thing together.

For larger households, where someone is always streaming, downloading or gaming, the faster Fab Fibre or Super Fibre packages are better for making sure no-one experiences any slowdown.

The no-contract option makes NOW Broadband an ideal choice for students who might only need the service for nine or ten months in the year. If you do choose the 12 month contract instead it reduces the one-off set up fee significantly, but the monthly prices remain the same. In either case you can change or cancel your TV passes whenever you like.

Points to consider before you choose

  • How many people will be using your broadband for streaming, downloading and gaming?
  • Are you a student, or do you live in short lease accommodation?
  • Do you want premium TV channels without a long-term commitment?
  • Do you want to watch TV on your phone or tablet?
  • Do you make a lot of landline calls?

What are the benefits of NOW Broadband?

What are the main reasons you should consider buying broadband from NOW Broadband?

  • No contract - The one-month rolling deals make NOW Broadband ideal for students or anyone else who is either unwililng or unable to sign up to a long-term commitment with their broadband supplier.
  • Commitment-free TV - Want to watch Game of Thrones or live Premier League football? NOW TV lets you do that without being tied in for a year or more. NOW TV is also the only way to watch Sky Atlantic without a full Sky package (it isn't available through Virgin Media).
  • Unlimited usage - There are no download or speed limits on any of the NOW Broadband packages.
  • Fast uploads - Upload speeds on the fastest Super Fibre deal are 18Mb average speed, which is better than many rival providers.

What are the drawbacks to NOW Broadband?

What possible downsides should you be aware of before you sign up?

  • Set up fee - While it's great to be able to sign up to a no-contract deal, this does come with an activation fee of around £60. Make note of this, as it adds to your upfront cost.
  • TV can be more expensive - The biggest selling point of NOW TV is the lack of contracts. If you're happy to sign a contract you might find a Sky Broadband-with-TV bundle works out cheaper. There are also other ways to save money on pay TV.
  • Online tech support - The tech customer service options for NOW Broadband are limited. You'll mostly be required to go online for support.
